GENDER EQUITY EXPERT PANEL REPORT

The US Department of Education has posted the Gender Equity Expert Panel report on their website. The developers of these exemplary and promising programs received their recognition awards at the annual conference of the Association for Gender Equity Leadership in Education conference in Denver, Colorado in July 2000.

This report identifies the eleven exemplary and promising programs that promote gender equity in and through education. You can find online information and a copy of the report in one of two ways:

1. Go to the Department’s URL (www.ed.gov) and use the search mechanism located in the upper right corner to search for “ED/OERI/ORAD.” This will take you to the ED/OERI/ORAD: System of Expert Panels home page. Then click on “Gender Equity Expert Panel.”

2. Go to http://www.ed.gov/offices/OERI/ORAD/KAD/expert_panel/gender.html

In addition, the the Gender Equity Expert Panel identified “Good Resources”; these can be found on the WEEA Equity Resource Center website at http://www.edc.org/WomensEquity by clicking on the appropriate selection under Highlights.

Lynn Fox and Patricia Ortman, two members of the Panel, wrote an article about the panel and lessons learned in the process: “The Gender Equity Expert Panel: A Dissemination Model,” published in the April 2000 special issue of “Equity and Excellence in Education”, the journal of the University of Massachusett’s School of Education.
